Ficus Lyrata 'Fiddle Leaf Fig' Houseplant ~ Subject To Availability
Description: Native to tropical western Africa, Ficus lyrata, commonly known as the fiddle-leaf fig, has green, leathery and shiny and have distinctive, pale veins. These veins are embedded in the violin-shaped leaves. Although Ficus lyrata grows naturally in lowland tropical forests it can thrive in a large range of environments. Place in bright indirect sunlight, on the ground where it can grow up to 6' tall. Keep soil moist. Toxic to pets if ingested.
Care: Ficus Lyrata prefers bright indirect light, and it needs around 6-8 hours of light per day. Scorching direct sunlight might burn its leaves and low light condition will stunt its growth.
This plant needs medium watering. Water only when the top 2'' of the soil is dry and drain well after each watering to avoid root rot. Water thoroughly and let the soil dry out between waterings.
This plant prefers well-draining soils that can retain some moisture. You can add some peat moss and perlite to regular houseplant soil to increase the drainage and aeration.
Ficus Lyrata plant should be kept in temperatures between 65°F-80°F and a high humidity level (at least 40-60%). Use a humidifier and mist your plant when the weather is dry, especially during winter.
This plant should be fertilized once per month during the growing season (spring/summer) with diluted houseplant fertilizer.
This plant is mildly toxic so keep it out of reach of curious children and pets.
