- Description: Calathea Plants, native to tropical South and Central America, Africa, and the West Indies, are grown primarily for their beautiful, brightly colored, upright, oval leaves. The various Calathea varieties have leaves with purple undersides and various vibrant colorful patterns on the top side.
- Care: Calathea Ornata tolerates different lighting conditions, including medium to low-light spots. Its ideal lighting is bright, indirect light but it can also grow in partial shade. Avoid harsh direct sunlight to prevent sunburn.
This plant needs regular watering to keep its soil slightly moist. Check the soil twice a week and water when the first 2 inches of the top soil is dry.
This plant needs well-drained, nutrient-rich soils that are able to retain some moisture. Choose a peat-rich potting mixture.
This plant thrives in temperatures of 65°F-85°F and grows well in normal room conditions. It does not do well when the temperature drops below 50°F.
